  • He Came Down

He knows that which he created,

Every impression on our hearts, he knows

The lift of lightness as we meet new life

A first cry, a first bloom, a first prayer

The welling of wonder as nature declares us small

An ancestry, a vast ocean, a clear night sky

He knows that which he created,

And he has made himself known by entering in

    A first cry, he took

    A first prayer, he said

He knows that which he created,

Every impression on our bodies, he knows,

The gravity of grief as life departs

A final breath, a final petal, a final conversation

The depths of devastation as flames swallow our homes

A suffering body, a hurting eco-system, an abusive relationship

He knows that which he entered,

And yet his death was not final,

    His suffering not in vain,

    He came down,

So that we may know that we have not been abandoned,

    Forgotten,

    Or shamed,

    He came down,

So that we may know that hope has a name: Jesus Christ

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
